From 1984-2000, Epton held positions of increasing responsibility in purchasing and account management at ComEd.
As Segment Manager for Health & Education, Epton supervised a team of account managers responsible for every hospital, university and school system in the ComEd service territory, with revenue in excess of $220 million and peak demand in excess of 700 MW. After Unicom and PECO merged to form Exelon in 2000, Epton formed Elaton NRG to work with large commercial and industrial customers.
Large C&I customers were adjusting to restructuring not only at the electric company but to the newly competitive retail market for energy in Illinois.
Since 2001, Epton has sourced electricity and natural gas purchases worth more than $120 million through RFPs and negotiations with alternative retail energy suppliers. Since 2001, Epton has coordinated utility interconnection for over 3 million square feet of new healthcare construction, including New Prentice Women's Hospital and Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago..

Along with continuous implementation of numerous management practices to improve company productivity and performance, Lana’s main concentration is ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager. Her responsibilities in this area include: monthly energy and water data management, monitoring building's energy and water progress and goals, continuous tracking of ENERGY STAR score, reporting of Site Energy Use, Weather Normalized Energy Use Intensity, Greenhouse Gas Emissions, etc., recommendations on energy and water conservation and sustainability.
Lana is a certified Building Operator (MEEA), Building Energy Technologies specialist (City Colleges of Chicago), and LEED Green Associate (GBCI). She successfully handled such projects as ASHE’s Energy to Care Challenges and Strategic Energy Management (CLEAResult) for numerous healthcare facilities. Since 2014, Lana is responsible for Chicago Energy Benchmarking Ordinance and Evanston Energy Benchmarking Ordinance.
